Hello Everyone :)

Welcome to The Divide's Home Town Market. This is a brand new website designed to help you find what you are looking for with out driving "off the hill". Its a work in progress so any feedback is welcome. Please try out the pages to the left to get started. Other great online resources for the area include http://www.mygeorgetowndivide.com/, Facebook Groups "What's Happening On The Divide" & "The Georgetown Divide Exchange". If you would like an image posted on our site, or have any questions my e-mail is scimmarusti@gmail.com.

I created this website because of running into my own frustrations trying to start my own small business. I regularly ran into major obstacles trying to tell the people in the community what I do. Everyone wants your money to advertise, use space, post on their web page, in their newspaper, on the corner of the road. Government regulations make everything you want to do illegal, unsanctioned, or extremely expensive to even consider doing. I asked my self how can you even start a business, when everyone wants a ridiculous amount of money from you? How can I feed my self, & my family, when the unemployment runs out, & there are still no jobs hiring? When the government wants hundreds, & thousands of dollars for business licensing & permits. Craft fairs, & other coops want fifty to hundreds of dollars for space rent with no guarantee you will sell anything, there are no free places to set up a booth, advertise, let people know you are there. Even the web is a money making engine. Old businesses that have been around for years are unsympathetic to your plight because they had to pay those high fees themselves when times were better. I ask you how anyone is supposed to start a business today on the meager money they have? There are no jobs because we can't create jobs with the system functioning how it is. So... I designed a simple free website in the hopes that the people of our community might share my opinion. There are no fees to post on here, or find local people that might carry the things you are looking for.

All I ask is that you post something on here that you can contribute to the community, or contact one of our local people listed to keep your business & your money flowing back into the towns you live in. Help your neighbors so they can help you. The more you frequent this site & tell your friends to not just look at it, but use it. The more useful it will become. Its up to you to decide, if you want this site to work, or not. I hope you choose to keep it going.
